Bluemound Corridor Transit Enhancement Study

The Commission completed a study in 2023 that recommends transit enhancements along and near Bluemound Road in Waukesha County.

About the Study

At the request of Waukesha County, Commission staff completed a transit enhancement study along and near Bluemound Road in Waukesha County. The study followed the Commission completing a Bus Rapid Transit Concept Plan for the Bluemound Road Corridor at the request of the Cities of Brookfield and Waukesha.

Completed in August 2023, the study provides recommendations for an incremental investment approach to implementing transit enhancements along the existing Waukesha Metro Route 1 corridor. These enhancements would include bus rapid transit (BRT) features and pedestrian improvements.

The recommended enhanced Waukesha Metro transit service would link to the Region’s first BRT line, Milwaukee County’s CONNECT 1. CONNECT 1 opened in June 2023, connecting the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center to downtown Milwaukee. The study was also coordinated with the Waukesha Area Transit Development Plan.
