New Commissioners Appointed to the Regional Planning Commission

Five new Commissioners have been appointed to the Commission by the Governor’s office and/or respective County. Officers for 2025-2026 were also selected by Commissioners at the December 2024 Commission meeting.

Proposed Amendment to the 2025-2028 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)

The Commission is soliciting comments on 55 proposed projects as part of a proposed amendment to the 2025-2028 Transportation Improvement Program for Southeastern Wisconsin. A public review and comment period is being held through Friday, January 10, 2025.

New Report Compares the Milwaukee Metro Area to Peers

Commission staff recently prepared the third edition of a report comparing the four-county Milwaukee Metro Area to its peers. The report assesses how the Milwaukee Metro Area compares with 28 metro areas from across the country on several key measures, including population growth and characteristics, the economy, and transportation.

Passenger Rail Corridor Study Underway

The Commission is currently assisting in a study exploring the possibility of establishing passenger rail service in the corridor between Kenosha, Racine, and Milwaukee. Visit the study webpage to learn more.

2020 Regional Land Use Inventory Completed

The Commission recently completed its 2020 land use inventory for the entire seven-county Southeastern Wisconsin Region. This information is available in a mapping format on the Commission’s Interactive Mapping Application and can be obtained in GIS and tabular formats by contacting Commission staff.

Metro Milwaukee Pollution Reduction Action Plan Completed

Commission staff recently submitted the Metropolitan Milwaukee Priority Pollution Reduction Action Plan to the U.S. EPA. The plan is the first deliverable under the EPA Climate Pollution Reduction Grant program and marks the first milestone in a multi-year planning effort, making the four-county Milwaukee metro area eligible to apply for grants during the future implementation phase.
